In 2008, during one of the most uncertain economic times in recent history, iMotion Physical Therapy was born from a simple but powerful belief:
On February 1st, 2008, iMotion opened its doors at our Mowry location in Fremont.
It was a 1,500-square-foot subleased space inside Butterfly Life Women’s Gym. Three curtained treatment areas. Basic equipment. One physical therapist.
No grand opening celebration.
No elaborate marketing campaign.
Just commitment.
In the middle of a recession, when many businesses were shrinking, we chose to build because access to thoughtful, patient-centered physical therapy mattered more than market conditions.
Patients began improving.
Trust began growing.
Momentum followed.
By 2010, we expanded our Mowry clinic by 500 square feet to create a dedicated administrative and billing office. It marked the transition from survival to stability.
In 2011, we entered the Los Gatos community through a wellness collaboration. When that partnership dissolved within months, we faced a choice: retreat or rebuild.
We rebuilt.
We moved into an independent space behind a physician’s office on National Avenue. That experience strengthened our resilience and reinforced an important principle: growth would not happen by chance. It would be intentional.
By 2018, Mowry had once again outgrown its space. We expanded by an additional 3,000 square feet to meet the needs of patients who trusted us with their care.
In 2019, we acquired Omega Sports Rehab in the South Bay, strengthening our presence in Los Gatos and adding a San Jose location.
The San Jose clinic, located inside the Timpany Center, introduced a rehabilitation pool alongside land-based therapy, broadening the ways we could support recovery.
That same year, we launched iBliss Wellness, creating a space for medical massage therapy to support individuals living with chronic pain and complex medical conditions.
Because sometimes healing requires more than one approach.
It requires listening.
It requires integration.
It requires care beyond a single appointment.
On November 17th, 2022, we opened a new 5,000-square-foot clinic across from Lake Elizabeth on Paseo Padre Parkway in Fremont. The open-concept space was designed to support orthopedic and vestibular rehabilitation in a modern, welcoming environment
But the larger transformation wasn’t just the building.
With this expansion, our original Mowry clinic took on a new identity — becoming a dedicated center for neurorehabilitation and pediatric care. Today, it supports individuals living with Parkinson’s disease, stroke, multiple sclerosis, and other neurological conditions, while also serving children and families through integrated Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy services..
What began with one therapist has grown into a multi-location rehabilitation network serving the Bay Area.
But growth has never been the goal. Impact has.
Every expansion came from a question we continue to ask:
What do our patients need next?
If it meant building more space - we built.
If it meant adding occupational or speech therapy - we added.
If it meant redesigning a clinic to better serve Parkinson’s and pediatric
populations - we did it.
Because this journey was never about becoming bigger. It was about becoming better.
After more than 16 years, the heart of iMotion remains unchanged.
We believe movement is freedom.
We believe rehabilitation is personal.
We believe every stage of life deserves dignity and possibility.
And we believe that quality of life is not a luxury - it is a right.
From three curtained rooms to specialized neuro programs, pediatric services, aquatic therapy, medical massage, and multi-disciplinary care, our story is still unfolding.
The journey continues.
And the best chapters are still ahead.
