To help your first visit go smoothly, we recommend the following:

  • Write down any questions you want to ask your therapist
  • Make note of key symptoms, including:
    • when it started
    • what makes it better or worse
    • which activities are limited
  • Bring key information in writing if available:
    • relevant past medical history
    • previous treatments
    • current medications
    • anything else you want us to know
  • Call our office to verify your insurance benefits
  • Arrive 15 minutes early for your first appointment
  • Bring your insurance card and a photo ID

Here’s what your first visit will typically look like:

  • Check-in and registration

You’ll register with our front office team. They’ll help you navigate the insurance process and scheduling details so you can focus on your recovery.

  • Initial evaluation with your therapist

You’ll meet with a physical therapist for a comprehensive evaluation. Your therapist will ask about your medical history, current pain or injury, and your goals. Open communication helps us understand your full situation.

  • Movement and function assessment

Your movement, strength, coordination, and more will be evaluated. Please let your therapist know if anything hurts or feels uncomfortable during the exam.

  • Your treatment plan

Your therapist will explain findings and recommend a course of care based on your needs and goals. They will review recommendations with you and answer questions.

  • Getting started

Some treatment may be performed on the first day to get you started. At your next visit, you will move fully into your plan of care.

  • Team-based care (how your visits will be scheduled)

At iMotion, you will be assigned to a team of therapists rather than working with only one provider. This allows for greater flexibility in scheduling and supports well-rounded care, since each therapist brings their own methods and clinical strengths. Your care plan stays consistent, and your therapists communicate closely about your progress.

  • Scheduling follow-up visits

You’ll schedule your visits with the front desk team. We offer many convenient appointment times, but prime time slots can fill quickly—booking ahead is recommended.

  • Communication with your physician (if needed)

Your therapist will write up findings and a treatment plan to submit to your referring physician or other medical professional you choose.
